trd quad throttle bodies

Postby carter_4 » Wed Mar 26, 2008 1:40 pm

hi guys, i came across these..

http://trdparts02.jp/english/parts_engine-3s-ge.html

(near the bottom of the page)

and was looking at getting some for my 3sge altezza, i was just wondering if anybody has had anything to do with these before? what kinda price id be looking at?

and how much trouble they are to install?

i realise i will need an aftermarket ECU, as i will have to get rid of the MAP sensor in order to install it.

any help is much appreciated,

cheers

go get some ae111 blacktop throttles and use those instead

you will need to make up a manifold for them
atmosports off here does some manifolds, maybe you could get him to do one

Check out the length of the Alfa Twin Spark manifold! Can you say torque! :D

Wonder how much $$$ though...

hmm wonder how much, think i might give them an email an ask about pricing.

would there be any significant difference between something made from there and something from trd?

talk to Celica RA45 on here, he makes adapters for 20V throttle bodies, also has custom 50mm throttle bodies and all sorts of other goodies I wish I could afford

price!

the blacktop ITBs are the same as they use in the TRD ones....
the TRD manifold will have been dyno tested too. but quite probably for max power at high RPMs. which may or not suit you.

if you buy from someone who knows what they are doing (as all options above do) you shouldnt have any issues.

oh yea whoops, should of said any significant different in performance!

ill definately have a look around for black top throttle bodies though and get a hold of the people listed above, cheers guys.

does anyone know if there will need to be any significant changes apart from the computer? im assuming an aftermarket ECU will be able to deal with the new intake set up. im pretty sure im going to have to do something with the throttle cable, how difficult or easy that will be i have no idea though

I had fun with my engine stalling all the time. (4age with trumpets running a link ecu)
I got it dyno tuned at hytec and it runs sweet now...just make sure where ever you get the ecu tuned that they know what they are doing with that style of intake

Cant really say sorry...I brought the car with the trumpets on so I dont know what it was like prior.
But im putting out 118Kw (at the fly) and from what I can see, its only got the tumpets done to it, nothing else. (and ecu of course)

theres about 25 hp gain with the quad set up and trd does use 45 mm black tops for the motor ,which i have changed to 50mm for more power through the rev range
i also make inlets to suit this motor ,it is very similar to the TRD inlet and is set up for toyota quads if this helps

throttles

Postby Celica RA45 » Fri Mar 28, 2008 10:42 pm

i have made 2 patterns from a black top quad made it thicker in the walls etc then get them cast up heat treated machined to either 48mm or 50mm make new butterflies and linkages new bearings and new seals ,springs etc in the fiish look very similar to a black top throttle
they are 1230 aussie a set of 4 with linkages bar the center 1 which costs 200 aussie or from TRD 350 plus postage
the inlet manifold is a pattern as well same trhing cast heat treated and machined up these cost 600 aussie half of what TRD sells them for
