1UZ + Hilux.

Postby Silent Knight » Fri Apr 11, 2008 10:12 am

Now as it stands I think there is a slight possibility that I blew my HG this morning on the way to work. Not confirmed at this stage as I just left the flipping thing in the car park and came to work, will find out tonight when I go home...

I know there's a few folks in here that has had experience with doing this all so I want all the dirty details.

- How easy?
- What is needed?
- What's needed to keep it 4WD?
- Average cost (excluding 1UZ purchase)?
- Can I run standard computer? (I've heard the V6 computer will be able to run in synch with the 1UZ)

I need facts, not you heard this from your mum's uncle's second cousin's brother type of stuff...

Thanks!

I've already seen that! :P

I don't want to read someone's life story, just straight forward this/that this/that so I know what I'm up against and what exactly I need. 1UZ to Lux has come a long way since then and most the stuff to do is available off of the shelf but I've never done it so need more info...

C'mooon, isn't there a CHCH on here somewhere that's recently done it?

put 1/2jz into it less common, 1uz getting old done to many times.
nite b (brendan) probably man to talk to hes done it. 6g sound cheap to me!
can u do it all urself?
1-2.5g for motor (with ecu and loom that doesn't auto or go link add 2.5g+)
-cambelt, waterpump, plugs? leads? while its easy
*i would get the starter done to as it inlet manifold off job to get at.
1g flywheel and bellhousing
300-1g clutch (depend what u get)
then ur got mounts
headers
exhaust
wiring up engine (depend who u know, and what u know)
cooling fans and radiator(use standard or upgrade)
Fuel system should be fine
that what i can think of.

I'm not looking for a prize in originality, I'm looking for functionality...

Luckily I can cut most of those prices out as I won't be using a manual gearbox...

SOOOO... anyway seems I got all up in arms about something that is NOT really something because I was so damned $&#$% off at the car at that stage...

It's not actually a BHG, it's a hose under the inlet manifold right in front of the firewall that has a massive crack/leak in it. Has anyone ever pulled the inlet manifold off of a 3VZ-E before? It sorta looks like a not too hard task except for the bolts at the bottom of the manifold, are there bolts on both sides holding it on or only the open side? If there are on both sides I have no idea how to get to them without actually removing the whole friggen head... :?

lol, gotta love how they look easy
You gotta get it off to get at the head bolts so dont think you'll be going as far as taking heads off. The ones that are worst to get at are the very back couple, but once you get the bracket or whatever it was off right at the back then you'll see a couple of nuts. Other than that it should be pretty straight forward
