is it a 4age head, with the headbolt quite recessed?

were you using the right tool :P

unless you have some big grunty drills my pick would be to get an engineer to drill the head of it off so you can lift the head off and remove the rest of the bolt

did you strip the thred or the head of the bolt??

if its the head you could invest in some ezy outs.. just need to drill a hole in it first.. or perhaps use a cole chisle and nock the heaid off. if its the thred itself you need to lift and tern at the same time... or take the head off of it take the cylinder head off so you got more to grip

Yeah it s a blacktop head I was using the right bit but i was going in at a slight angle withought taking the cam out. the teeth inside the head of the stud where the bit sits into is stripped clean not the thread of the stud to block. I dont have a welder i might try drill it out.

yeah normally i would suggest welding another nut on top, but they are reasonably hard to get to.

good luck taking off the top of a headstud with a cold chisel! :?

so how did you get it out then?

I bought a high tensile drill bit (10mm) and drilled down the center of it. It just popped off must have been alot of pressure on that stud. I was worried id go right through and start drilling into the head but there was a washer under it so that helped.

Yeah i think you would start to damage the head with a cold chisel.

it is a 10mm 12 spline drive. I had a few for sale a while back,
could probably get some more if people were interested,
but would have to check on price an availability.

its usually best to get the cams out of the way first..

Yeah i did take the one cam off as i had to, but the other one wasnt too bad but i didnt turn the cam enough and thought i could go in sideways but no. Thats what you get when trying to cut corners. Gave me a nice fright when i stripped it. But its all good now.
