SC12 Boost

Postby z0ton » Sun Nov 16, 2008 8:13 pm

I know this has been covered many times, but I searched through all the threads and couldn't find the answer I needed...

Anyway I've done the abv mod, and I have a 175mm crank pulley but its still sits on 10psi max. The only thing that needs to be done is make the abv vacuum line go back to the manifold right?

Is there anything else that could cause the boost to be limited to 10? Or is it most likely the condition of the supercharger?

Its an ae101 map sensor engine.

I think I tried that a while ago as well. From what I remember it still went to 10 but started dropping back to 6-8 at higher revs. I'll try it again tonight and see what happens.

I had a Cusco pulley on my MR2. After the ABV mod, it was pumping out 14psi no worries. Stock intercooler and everything. Front mounts will drop it down a bit normally.
I eventually did get rid of the ABV all together, with no lasting problems.

Blocking the vacuum off the abv didn't change the boost much. It made it drop off a bit more at higher revs.

I just cut took the vacuum off the tee and blocked it with a bolt?

I've had an autometer gauge on it before and it read exactly the same as my auto gauge one :(

Check your not getting belt slip - can be a bit insidious. Suspicous with your boost falling of at higher RPM.

Using a new belt? Still got good belt tension?

Cheers.

Yea it could be, its a new belt and seems pretty tight, also doesn't make any noises under boost. The falling boost at high rpm only happened when I blocked the abv.

I'll retension the belt now and see what happens :)

EDIT: Well the belt definitely isn't slipping!

Yeah Matt. I did all the same things I did on my MR2, but you one just wouldn't boost. Some of those little blowers have had a hard life though.
