ive checked all fuses and they seem to be ok, has a new battery and yes, its got fuel in it

the previous owner hooled the battery up the wrong way round, and that caused the problem.
any ideas?

fuel: if its injected? you can use a noid light or oscilloscope to test whether the ecu is firing the injectors. a digital multimeter wont react fast enough to see the pulse.
you can also pull the fuel rail out with the injectors in still and see if they spray when cranking.

Should've blown the Fusible link/s rather than anything else.
