Lightweight flywheel for 3sge Beams celica 1997.

Postby melloman11 » Sat Jan 21, 2012 9:27 pm

Hi all,
I'm after a lightweight flywheel for a 1997 SS3 beams celica.
I've had a good search and this http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/toyota/clutches/auction-440094362.htm is all I have found, is the lightest flywheel I can purchase for the beams 8.8kgs? or can I go lighter? I'm after something lighter than stock but still in the daily driver range. Cheers.

Thats for an Altezza, pretty sure the Celicas didnt have a dual mass flywheel! (hence the DMR replacement).
JUN will likely do a light flywheel for them, ask Mac @ 41

they come up on trademe quite often as lots of altezzas etc come in from japan with good flywheels+clutches. and this makes them a bit of a bitch to drive so people take them out and sell them cheap quite often. keep an eye out.

Good to know, I havn't bought the celica yet it's getting mechanically inspected. If that checks out its a done deal. Just going over what mods I can do to her :) .

There was an expired auction http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/toyota/engines/auction-414298055.htm Thats the kind of thing I'm after. I got in touch with the seller and he said he'd long sold it and thought the company that made them had gone out of business :(

Bazda sells that Fidanza in the sponsors section so I doubt they have gone out of business. The local shop the trademe seller got it from may have gone out of business though.

Clutch Industries used to import Fidanza, but they stopped due to lack of demand.

you can NOT use altezza flywheels.

Buuuuut the good news is that you can use any flywheel which fits a gen 2 or 3 3sge.

Cant use a 3SGTE one though, unless you use a different clutch centre to suit the S gearbox.

Are you sure about those flywheel weights?
From what I've read...
Redtop 3S-GE is 6.4kg
Gen 3 3S-GE is 7.5kg
