ST215 3SGTE into ST185

Postby Rob » Sat Oct 13, 2012 10:40 pm

Hey team, just picked up an ST185 with a 215 motor in it. It turns over but won't start. I've been searching the web all afternoon but can't find a wiring diagram for a 215, already have a 185 one but this thing looks like a butcher had a go

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

Just run a piece of string round the pulleys and measure the length... A 3 or 4 ribbed belt will have a 3pkxxx or 4 pkxxx where xxx is the length in millimetres.

i went to supercheap and checked out the range of bosch belts for aircon removal, they didnt have the size i wanted,

toyota have a 5pk1010 belt with the P/N 99365-21010

if you need a ribbed tensioner pulley the P/N is 16603-88360

this is for ST205 3SGTE AC removal.

I managed to do away with the entire bracket and pulley alltogether and tensioned it by swivelling the alternator and locking it in with a wedge

So got this bad boy running, gotta pull out the fan switch and test it, as the fan goes constantly. Also I'm running full boost at idle according to the factory boost gauge (maybe a wrong wire in there)

Anyone know anything about a tacho adaptor? I've looked it up online and it appears they're all the same, but I would like to get the parts and do it myself as its only four diodes and four resistors. Just wanna know if 400v 100Kr and 400v 1A diodes will be for all vehicles?

Cheers for that belt knowledge I found the one that came with the car eventually in front of my eyes

With the fan running all the time, you probably need to bridge the terminal that the aircon pump was plugged in to. Seems to be a common thing on Toyota's with the aircon removed.
See ya

The fan is run through a funny looking oval plug which is on the aircon piping. What I did on my other car was loop the wires furtherest apart and it was fixed, so then I traced them back to the main fuse box by the battery and have just run them straight from there on this second car. Problem was dodgy fan switch. Luckily hoarding unused parts from Dodsons while fitting Motors has rewarded me once again with a freebie and my fan is now fine.

Now the full boost at idle beef......................
