1991 Toyota Corolla Levin Superstrut

So...went to pick a part today to grab the ss shock from the Levin there.
Attacked it with lots of enthusiasm and low n behold it came out really easy.

Ok so get home, jack levin up and start taking various things needed, got all nuts n bolts off and go to pop the shock out and boom...stuck.

Been at it for an hour, drowned it in crc, bashed it with various tools pipes bricks wood and shoe.

Exhausted now, giving up. For now...

Can anyone tell me how to get this CSB out????

Hold a bit of tension on the joint, then hit the $&#$% really hard with a big bitch hammer.don't hit the threaded part, hit the joint next to the taper.

Yeah, only if you don't mind righting off the boot/ making a mess of it :?

I'd go with what Crampy says. A good shock will drop the joint out. Not hitting it hard enough if it does drop out. I've heard that's not the best option either, but I don't know of a better option haha.

Is this what you're talking about? I have no idea what a CSB is..

The area I'm trying to part it at is at the figure 8 on the lower arms and the point at the top above the hub

Think it's a 19mm nut on the end

CSB = c#%t s#%t b#%^h

in above pic, its stuck at hub ball joint and figure of 8

can someone come bash it off for me tomorrow?

I don't recall having to bash that one actually, so my bashing advice is not intended for that part. It may still be the answer, but I don't know.

having done it lots of times, Just bigger hammer.

For getting the figure 8 off the lower arm i found align it parallel with the lower arm then drive a tree felling wedge between them so there is a bit of force trying to pull them apart then bash the hell out of it with a huge hammer. (bashing on the figure 8 link bit around the joint.)

As for getting the one off that is between the shock and the top of the hub carrier. Hit the hub carrier on the top edge from the front of the wheel arch (should be able to get a good clear swing at it.)

Ball joint fork can be brought at either super supetcheap or repco, tho it has a high likelyhood of stuffing the boot. I did have a clamp tool which had a fork that sliped in the joint, then a seesaw finger which pushed down on the stud when you wound a bolt opposite. Think I brought that from one of the above too
