yo

how does one safely (without breaking anything) remove the centre console on a 1998 caldina, it looks easy enough but im too scared to snap something

just tips on where to pull or where clips/screws are located is what im after.

anyhows

the unit come out towards you...

So you will have to somehow get a grip on it and pull towards yourself...

But be carefull, inside the dash where the unit mounts to the underside of the top of the dash, there are two tabs where the unit clips into... these have come off in my first attempts to get the unit out... so yeah

Some cars are a pain in the ass with headunits huh? I had to take out my entire dash and my dam centre console and gearstick cover and all just to get my old headunit out. At least i know it wont be a quick job stealing it

one of my cars had a short somewhere in the system, so the chassis it was screwed into was electrified. gave me quite a shock when i went to remove it.

Still dont know how the thing still worked :lol:

Someone tried to steal mine, and i have 4 brackets on it. It aint going no where. That and the interior alarm was prolly too loud for em to keep trying

problem is if they cant take it, they usually just bust it up so its no good to you either
