Depends in how I feel like driving, FWD for getting to A to B and dropping squeakies, 4WD for hitting corners with speed and hard launches, RWD for just having fun. Prefer RWD. :D Prefer 4WD for the fmaily wagon. 8O

Coz - a rear drive setup is where the rear wheels are powered, making the mr2 a rear wheel drive.

man... i thought they were called MF2's

no shit, its just a st182, turned around and stuck in backwards....

with a st185 engine :). still technically a fwd gearbox and front wheel drive SETUP.

but since the rear wheels are obviously powered its a rwd... as said above, still fwd box / setup etc.

how many ferrari's use fwd gearboxes? THATS a real mr :).

and why the hell isnt my sig working yet...

Bollocks. Where does it say (other than the Cozmo book of mekanicz) that a gearbox and engine can't be used in a specific drivetrain layout if they've previously been used in a different one?

The MR set up is appreciated because of its driving characteristics, not because of the type of gearbox or engine used. The weight distribution and handling are vastly different in MR than in FF or FR.

Dosnt, but its still that setup :P. I never said it was bad, i only said it was using that setup...

Maybe you should define your version of the word "set up". Because everyone else seems to have a completely different definition in mind.

set·up ( P ) n.
1. The way in which something is constituted, arranged, or planned.
2. The gathering and organization of the equipment needed for an operation, procedure, or task.


So its to do with the way the MR2 drivetrain parts are arranged ... which is completely different to any of the Celicas. I don't even know why you've brought up the NSX :roll: Way to choose another example that has nothing to do with the question at hand :!:

i was just comparing it to a supercar styled mr2..... eg ferrari... their gearboxes dont even look anything near an mr2's since the mr2's could be turned around and placed into a fwd...

do that with a ferraris gearbox.

and the nsx has a transfersly mounted engine. so the gearbox will resemble a fwd one... thats all im saying man, take a chill pill.

I chose fwd.

Less power loss then fr and 4wd.
Can go round corners pretty quick with a type r.

I hate the feel on a FWD of scudding round corners with the front tyres unable to decide if they are steering or pulling...

RWD is the best balanced option of those above, and the best implementation of the KISS principle.... although if i had to choose my all-time favourite drive topology, it'd be the Nissan ATESSA system on my old Skyline : RWD for normal use, control, and fuel economy, but the split second the gyros figure you're cornering too hard for the RWD to maintain traction, on goes the 4WD... head out of the corner, back to RWD... brilliant idea :)

You were arguing for your point that the engine and gearbox set up in an MR2 is the same as in a Celica. Everyone else is telling you that you're incorrect, but once again, you don't seem able to understand this. I'm not the one who needs the pill ... :lol: (unless you have some small green ones with a Mitsi emblem on them, in which case I'll take 5 :wink: )
