trying to work out which to go for. more cost effective for the 1jz, but not as common to stick with the 7mgte. :? :? :?

id say 1jz, but since you have the 7mgte already it would be better to stick with that as the money you would spend on the 1jz conversion could be used on mods for the 7m.
but in saying that it would cost less to mod a 1jz to 400hp i would imagine

my dad has already done this conversion, so we will be doing it ourselves, and i can pick up a 1jz for a little over a grand. problem is that i'll have to get the supra certed for the 1jz, which will be a pain. the 7m, i'm going to have to rebuild, and i'm going to run a link plus with a few extras, which is where most of the money is coming from for the rebuild of the 7m. whereas with the 1jz, i don't "need" the link, as dad can get past the boost and speed cuts without affecting the ecu parameters. the 1jz i would also not have to do anything to to be able to get easily 500hp out of it motor wise. i will still replace the turbo's on either motor. so yeah, still not sure what to do aye....

thanks for the input though matt, your right about the fact that it's easy power from the 1jz, but it's getting it in there in the first place.....
