Altezza IS200 to 300 (2JZGTE)????

I have looked at this site (http://www.turbofast.com.au/lexus.html) about converting a IS200 to 300 but would like to know more about this conversion, and is there the possibility of using the standard 6speed transmission with the 2JZGTE.
Can any one point me to a/some sites that show more about this and/ or any additional information I would need to consider, cheers Andrew.

youd need a 6 spd from a supra, the altezza one would not be up to it

Yeah bugger!! I was hoping Toyota would do there usual over-engineering and it would cope oh and bolt up but never mind. I'm having trouble trying to find technical info on the Altezza to find this type of stuff out.

that 6spd is actually not made by toyota, cant remember who make sit but honda have in the s2000 and nissan in the 200sx/silvia

Yeah the Supra's V160 (in twin turbo) is made by Getrag of Germany. So the Altezza's gearbox is a Toyota made box ??? I would have though with the Lexus affiliation they would go with something descent

As said above, not Toyota. Also used in the MX5. By decent you mean able to take the torque from the 3.0 turbo instead of the standard 2.0 NA?? Riiiight....

Easiest thing is buy a IS300 and whack turbos on.

LOL something decent? from what i remember toyota gear boxes are pretty good... look at the celica gear boxes

I did some more searching apparently the box is “similar” as that used in the 200SX In that application it copes with 250hp there apparently not able to cope with high HP applications and it’s a Warner unit, but I can’t find a model No.
By decent I mean able to cope with a 2jzgte yes, but eventually with single turbo conversion, so around 400hp for every day driving.
Oh and I’m not arguing that the Celica/ Supra boxes are not good unit or would not cope with this power, But We have established the Altezza 6 speed would not cope (even if it would fit) as said at the start of this post

Easiest thing is buy a IS300 and whack turbos on.

If I could find one (only seem to be in GITA wagons to NZ market though) I would then be faced with a auto that still would not hold power .

Theres a twin turboed 3 ltr running around aussie with standard 6sp and diff pumping out more than 600hp. I will keep looking for the link and post it when i find it

The Aisin box will break at the 2J torque!

Remember it is a remote shift box plus it is quite large. They don't even fit properly in an MK3 Supra and they came with the R154. Tranny tunnel needs to knocked back a bit with a hammer and then there's the problem with having to cut your console back further for shifter to fit through....

Nope, the tunnel needs massaging. I use a W58 from the JZA80 NA, and it hold up ok.

Does the remote shifter fit through or did you have to mod the console?

Doesnt fit, misses slightly, we had to modify the shifter.
