Says who? Where is the dyno sheet? Please post it so we can all see, it sounds like a good gain but without the evidence it's just another "my mate" post.
I have seen the dyno sheet, and have made a healthy gain on an 2.2VTEC Prelude with an S-AFC with "conservative tuning".... meaning I could run comfortably with 98 on a hot day, and never experienced any issues running 96 either.
At the end of the day, any doubters could be as full of shit as anyone stating facts - so the person asking the question can draw their own conclusions from there. FYI, my conservative tune got me from 137kW @ wheels to 142kW @ wheels with gains of up to 10kW @ wheels between 5000-6000rpm - so the difference in peak power doesn't fully represent how much better the car actually went after the tuning.
I can't provide the dyno plot, though anyone who doubts and lives in Palmerston North are quite welcome to have a look at my torque, hp, and voltage (a/f) ratios for the tuning session... and there are 2 other people to can attest to S-AFC + tuning being a good thing, and 0 people who actually can state with examples any cases they are no good - so the gains must be real.
Considering a WOFable exhaust on an NA 4cyl typically gains about 2/3kW @ wheels and will typically cost several hundred dollars, this is a very logical bang for your buck modification - as it is cumulative to your mods.
