4agze -> 4agte -> ae85 =ecu question

Postby eightytrueno » Fri Apr 16, 2004 5:05 am

done a big search but couldnt really find an answer,

i'm buyin a 4agze to convert to turbo, to put in ae85. its cheaper to get the engine without s/c, ecu, etc.. and as it seems the ecu will be a pain in the ass to get in the rwd anyways. i was plannin on goin aftermarket ecu.. but the question is:

is there a plug-in replacement ecu for the ze, that will happily run turbo? or will i need to use the standard ecu, and piggy back it? will this help solve the wiring loom problems with puttin a 4agze into an ae85/6?

AFAIK there aren't any piggyback chips available for the 4AGZE's. New ECU would be your best bet. Easier to incorporate future mods as well if you get a better ECU at the start. Just make sure you get one that can be tuned by someone in NZ :roll:

the ecu isn't a pain in the arse to get into rwd, done this conversion with a mate, its the factory loom which is the pain in the arse, but if you have a few weekends and some smarts you can work through it all.
Afaik the factory ZE ecu will run a turbo no problems, but it has nothing on a link, etc

and yes, afaik there is no plug in replacement for the ZE, only wire ins like link, microtechs etc ..

You'll only need the factory ECU if you're running the engine before installing the Link. Get the link wired in, and you'll be away running no sweat.

Need to get it properly tuned to start getting the benefits of it though :wink:
