4WS light on in Celica

Postby Swampy » Fri Apr 16, 2004 6:12 pm

The 4WS light comes on in my celica after about 5 mins of driving. :(
Does anyone know what I can check or look for. I`ve tried the " sport/normal switch and 2WD/ Reverse switch, which makes no difference. Not sure how its spose to work but with light is out the rear wheels turn the opposite to the front. Now when the 4WS light stays on ,then the rear wheels turn the same way as the front....make sense??
Is there anyone out there that can shed some light on this for me please..

Cheers.....

common on the 4ws sillycars is for the motors for the rear steering rack to crap out. take your car to a TOYOTA dealership as they will most likely be familiar with the problem therefore making an accurate diagnosis quiker

Speed sensor is on the front left wheel, you'll recognise it as connected to the 'extra' cable that isnt present on the right hand side.

Theyre about $350 odd from Giltrap City Toyota (and impossible to source second hand)

I did the one in my 183 about 2 years ago.

there are no wires at all on the front wheels. I thought it would be up near the speedo somewhere. What about the 4WS ECU,any thoughts on where that would be??
