Not sure if this is normal, but when my mr2 is turned off, every so oftern out of the engine bay you can hear a buzzing noise, it comes from the passenger side if the car, does anyone else get this noise, is it normal??

yes it is normal for injected cars.
i cant remember what it is but its something to do with the emissions side of things i thk

its the charcole? purge canister, some sort of purge canister anyway but yes its normal

tis normal, pop your engine cover and locate the black purge canister (size of a coke can...or there abouts), mounted against strut tower on passenger side. Have a couple of vacume lines in the top. if you remove them it should stop "buzzing" . if you suck on one it should buzz. I think its just a worn reid-type valve which makes noise when vacume is applied.
