my blacktop used oil at first, i think i got 30w15 or something put in it, but have since changed to a "thicker" oil and it doesn't budge now on the dipstick, so all good. So it could be the oil he uses, just an idea :)

for that amount of kays its not a problem, old saying is it needs a rebuild if it uses more than a litre every 5000, but as said above 4ages tend to use a bit of oil if its too thin

my mazda however did use oil, something like 16 litres in 3000 kays 8)

Compression should be around 8.9:1 for the post-mid-89 models I think

Yeh ... my '89 GZE goes through a lot of oil.

You might also wanna get the s/charger oil checked out eh. Sucks to get a GTZ with a dying supercharger.

if u dont want to happen like my ae101 gtz, chek oil frequently and fill up frequently.
there's nothing else u can do for ur AE92 becos they r old and the oils do burn quite alot.
and whenu miss that the oils have run out, say bye to ur engine~
if the engine oil gets burnt too quickly(heaps od somke out of ur exhaust), check ur pistons and rings!
other wise rebuild them!
read what happen to mine!
well, i was stupid...but dont want to c this happen to other people aye..

No it's not bad and the fact he was being honest with you is good, any old person can say "nah it's sweet, doesn't use any oil bro" also oil changes every 5000Km's is a good sign
Pull out the dipstick and see if it looks clean, also look under the oil cap for sludge, if it's been serviced properly the coolant will also be bright green.

or transparent red colour if toyota genuine or most newer brands of long life coolant has been used, which is an even better sign, if its an orange rusty colour then its definitely not a good sign

There was something seriously wrong if it ate all that oil in a week.
