Ok so my car is now mobile again clutch is done as is every thing else engine wise.

Only thing needing doing now its the turbo. So does/has anyone in the Wellington area had their turbo reconditioned :?: If so where did you go, how good was the work and how much did it cost.

Thanks

Why not just go for something a bit bigger, i've heard starlys go real well with a bigger one slapped on there

Yeah I would but to be honest cant afford all the added extras that go along with a bigger turbo  Its cost me a minor fortune to get the car mobile again and really cant justify the expense at the present time as I am trying to get out of debt after being unemployed for several months.

Don't know how much ct9's are worth so we shall start with $100 which will be cheaper than getting it reconditioned! I will let you know what kind of condition it is in after we get it off the car in about 2 weeks or so! If i think it's mint i'l send it down to you and you can get it checked over by a turbo specialist??
Let us know what you want to do and i'l get back to you about it :)

Will consider it if it is in good condition. Let me know how many km's its done, if its from a manual or auto and also if there is any sign of smoke when the car is idiling etc as I currently have 2 ct9's that have stuffed seals only.

Thanks

Auto done about 110kms i think doesn't smoke or anything at idle no sound when spooling and hasn't (as far as i can tell from actuator hoses etc) had the boost wound up on it by any means other than the increase found by a 2 1/2 inch exhaust! Runs 10psi all day at the moment might be a couple o weeks before it's off the car as we have to get the money together to get the standard exhaust manifold modified slightly to take the new turbo!

ok point taken,

i dont get told everything. but with other mods, 1990 starlet did 187kw at the wheels, and traction was an issue.

SR Auto's in Upper Hutt Rebuilt and highflowed the T25 I had on my GTX for $300.

If your CT9's are in good cond, and only need seals I imagine it would be half that (depending on the price of seals for the toyota turbo).

I also heard the mitsi TD04's bolt onto the 4EFTE exhaust manifold, might be worth looking into as they are quite cheap and easy to get ahold of.

:o DO NOT & I REPEAT DO NOT go to SR Automatics

They are the people (Sheldon) who did my turbo, extended the shaft using a bolt that wasn't balanced. It absolutely ruined my first turbo...

Sad really cause my dad knew him & recommended him, however after the appalling job he did on mine, there is no way either of us will ever go back....

Also, I thought you got that turbo I sold you checked out??

Yep got the turbo checked Kristal, which is why I'm 100% sure its only the seal, of which I have the kit for both turbos already courtsey of tatsumaki racing :D

But yeah not looking at upgrading the turbo atm as I dont have the dosh to buy the custom mani I need. Stock manis on these puppies are crap when it comes to up boost or putting a different turbo on them. That aside it would take my mate several weeks to make the mani and send it down to me. So really just waning somewhere that does a good job for a reasonable price.

He probably did, but he absolutely ruined mine all because he didn't make sure the washer was balanced, that he used to space out my shaft to get the compressor wheel to fit...
