Postby wagn_man » Sun Apr 25, 2004 6:57 pm

Sup fullas,
Does anyone else have this problem after 110 k's??
The road surface doesent seem to change things, it just gets progesively worse after 110'ks, i had to drive down to Taupo on the weekend and it was really frustrating..
I have had the weels balanceing, aligned and the discs skimmed and it stil does it!!!
Does anyone have any idea what it could be??

i had same prob, my spare set just needed a balance, sweet as, anyway stuck another set on and had wheel shake, got them balanced just before the shop close, anyway didnt help, took it to another place, they check the wheels and one was still outta balance! got that wheel balanced, thought it was good, shot up to 100kph no worries , travel up south the next day, still out! anyway took it for a wof the other day and was told that two of the mags were buckled, i even asked the tyre shops weather the mags could be the problems, :?

my mags do this too ..
I think the power steering is going...
and I've had 2 buckled mags -where they were slightly out of round
Im about to get all the mags checked and strightened, new tires, and balanced, and alignment and check over the power steering pump

yeah most common thing causing this is balancing or slight buckling of mags. also possible is a bump or flatspot in the tires.

although normally if theres a bump in the tyre it'll do it at low speed too.

if the steeringwheel shakes its normally the front tyres / wheels and if you feel a vibration through the car its normally the rears.

i didn't want to post my stupidity, but i will just in case it helps someone else out

i removed two of my wheels (from same side of car) and forgot only the front one had been balanced, so i put them off the wrong places, meaning the back wheel is balanced rather than the front, how it should be.

I'll get round to swapping them back and let ya know if that fixs my problem :)

yea it did it when i bought the car and it had steelies on it, then i got alloys and it still does it, got them blanced, front discs skimmed & alligned but it still does it, i just wish there was someone out there that really knows wot theyre on a bout when it comes to this kind of thing..

its really annoying especially when travelling long distances like i did on the weekend (taupo & back) and as much as u try to ignore it it doesent go away!!! ggrrrrr

can anyone recommend someone that knows what they're doing with wheel balancing and this sort of thing??
