HT Leads and Spark Plugs

Ok so my engine is keeps missing and its starting to annoy me. Im guessing its either the HT leads or one of my spark plugs is gone. So i thought why the hell not replace both with better ones. Any suggestions on what type to buy and where to buy them from and what sort of cost i'll be looking at?

I dunno about the 20v but my 16v is running std Bosch leads and Bosch Super 4 plugs. Seems to go a sh**load better than std plugs, better throttle response, smoother running and quicker cold starts etc..

I'd guess about $60-70 for plugs and another $50 for leads. I dont really know as I've never paid retail. :lol:

I don't have a 20v, but I did have bosch plugs & was told off, apparently they are not a good brand for spark plugs (fuel pumps slightly different :D
NGK is great, I changed to them (from the bosch) & the car felt better...

NGK is great, I changed to them (from the bosch) & the car felt better...


Yes NGK plugs are the best for japanese DOHC's as the other brands and especially champions dont handle the heat created

HZRDIZ, we sell a lot of TRD leads for blacktop. I think our price for these is cheaper than a std set. PM or email me for a price. bsollitt@trdsales.com
We also sell a lot of TRD Iridium plugs for them but to be honest you can probably buy Iridium plugs at a cheaper price i.e Denso or NGK.

Yes that comment about NGK plugs being suited to Jap engine is right on the money. I've found that the 20v especilally perform very well with the NGK Iridium plugs. Heard the same from a friend who put some in his SR20 powered Bluebird.
Bosh plugs are still good plugs but are better suited to the euro's

As for leads NGK make good leads as well, they're not to expensive. Good old Eagle leads avaliable from Appco are pretty good as well if you're on a budget.

Hmmm now someone can refresh my memory on where I can get some NGK Plugs from and an approximate cost and how many I'll need? This will sound stupid as well but i take it is not a difficult job to do yourself either...

Spark plug types:

NGK PLATINUM: BKR6EP-11
DENSO: PK20R11

You can get them from Toyota, RIPCO, Super Cheap Ripoffs etc..
I paid $60 for my NGK but normal price is around $90+...best to shop around.

But if I were you I would replace the air filter and fuel filter first then the spark plugs and do the leads last because the leads are not cheap.

appco on wairau road, ask for carl - good guy.
$60 or so for NGK plugs 100ish for eagle leads

Or get the non platinum plugs number ngk bkr6ep seeing as your only trying them to get rid of the problem! Buy a set for $20 and they go just as good as platinums for a while - best bet is to replace them every year or so depending on how many km's you do if you use the copper plugs or every 50,000km's for the platinums i think!

Right on the money with the leads dude i think they go for around $170 or so a set retail!

The p on the end of BKR6EP means platnium so they are platnium aswell.

the only plug that is recommended for a AE111 is the platinum

yeah its about $200 all up plugs and leads

actually the correct ngks are bkr6ep-11s
or denso pk20r11
can do densos for $13.50inc gst each

genuine leads are $167inc gst a set.

can do TRD as well.
Being the subject of E-whinges since 2004 8)
