general hackability of a T50

Postby AE85.6 » Wed May 05, 2004 8:46 pm

just curious to those who have been through a T50 box from good condition to destruction,

how much punishment can they handle?

im not gonna have 18" or real wide rims or anything to load the driveline up more but curious as to should i replace a 3/4 gone T50 with another one or upgrade to maybe w series instead of waiting till one day if or when a ze engine replaces my 4ager ? i mean i dont wanna kill a new T50 cause i wanted to do the ocasional skid or have some fun with my street rims on (205 x 15s) of course any day long events i would chuck some smaller hack wheels on which would also be less resistance to spin

ive seen a 3tgte with a t50 it had a hole in the actuator hose and the dude did heaps of skids and it seemed to handel it ok long term abuse and it will die
a w5* would almost be undestructable behind a 4age

its all a matter of how you treat it,
Ive had a t50 w/ h/d clutch behind my 3tgteu with 112kw at the wheels, and its held up fine for nearly 3 years now, I dont do big ass skids all the time, but also the light weigth ke25 has a tendancy to light up wheels way before it shock loads the dirvetrain.

Cheers

Ive had my ae86 for 3yrs now and I've thrashed the crap out of it in grasskhana's, autocross's and even taupo race track plus some of the more entertaining twisty roads around wgtn.

Its got a 4agze in it now with the same gearbox (6months-ish now) and its still sweet apart from a minor leak.

btw its always had 195/50 fm901's which i suppose would put some more stress on the drive line since they are pretty sticky.

dunno if that helps in your decision?
