you can change fuel ratios all that kinda crap already rather than the computer deciding on when to change etc.
Of course it's relevant, if you can't control the VVT the same as the factory then at the very least you may have driveability issues or lose power, at the worst you may even damage the engine.
IMHO the ability to change fuel ratios is the least important feature of an ECU, the best features are the ability to apply 3D (or sometimes just 2D) compensations to the maps, or other ancillary features like nitrous, 2 stage rev limiting, traction control and of course the ability to datalog your engines performance. Which is why I prefer Motec, the extra cost is more than worth it for the features provided
