Alarm Help

Postby nobbie » Wed Jun 02, 2004 12:30 pm

Hey,

just went for a roadtrip to Whangarai and di some gravel road driving. Now my alarm arms but doesnt lock, so I have to use the key, however it disarms and unlocks automatically quite happily. I think the bumps have made something loose in my alarm....

any ideas where i should look?? and what for?

Could be in one of two places, under ur steering wheel, take out the plastic panel under there, and have a look for the ECU (if ur alarm was installed properly it should be there, not unlike ive seen some ppl do and put the ECU in the engine bay where it will either melt, be an easy target for theifs to disable or get crapped out due to water getting into it), and check all the wires there leading from it, see if anythings loose or disconnected.

If its not that, take the door panel off the drivers side and check the wires leading to the central locking mechanism, there could be something loose there...
