ae85 dials options?

Postby wannabe86 » Thu Jun 03, 2004 1:25 pm

has anyone done a ae85 conversion (to 4age) and used a non ae86 dials (speedo and rev count)? ie fxgt or the like?

any info would be appreciated.

i know that the unit would prob be different shape or something, but i want something actually in original place...

hope this isn't to dumb?

(I don't like those aftermarket rice gauges that have red lights to tell honda drivers when to change from D down to L or 2...  ) jokes.

My memory is a bit cloudy on exactly what I used but...

I ran ran 4age with entire ae86 engine and car looms plugged into ae85 gauge cluster. I got speedo (cable plugs in rear) and revs came up fine. Can't remember about other warning lights etc.

i didnt do the conversion myself but the new 85 i bought has already got a 4ager in it but last owner had swapped to the ol retro digidash but i know others that have done the conversion into AE85s and left the stock dash in place, would look quite good with AE85 dash get to watch the revs climb to the end of the red line instead of the start of them  however anyone else in the car will just think you are thrashing it to death :P
