PCV valve - where on 4AGZE?

Post by aesc »

im looking to replace the PCV valves on my 4AGZE, but i cant seem to find where they are. apparently there are two, one on the head side and one on the block side. can anyone assist and tell me where they are? they're prob a mish to get to if i cant see them! :x

also, are fuel filter lines under pressure? i want to replace this too but will get a pro to do it if they are

cheers

The pcv will most likely be on the hose going from the rear rocker cover to manifold you will need to remove the intercooler to get at it and it may be in the steel fittings themselves but not to sure on that.
Fuel filters have some pressure in them which will squirt out some petrol when you undo the fittings but the pressure will be gone quickly although changing the filter on most cars is a pain in the ass generally as they are mounted in such a way that its hard to get a decent spanner in to loosen the fittings which are usually quite tight.

thanks jasonZE, big help. have found the one on the back rocker cover, like you said, under the i/c. where is the other pcv though? is it further down the block somewhere?

had a look, so the 1st pcv goes into the rocker cover under the i/c, and the hose from there connects to the 2nd pcv which goes into the intake manifold and has got a slight elbow bend to it. is this right? its only a short hose between the two

i just did the two speed idle test where you short terminals E1 and TE1 and block the pcv hose. if its stuffed the idle is suppose to drop but mine didnt. infact i could take the hose off and block the pcv without revs dropping or the engine turning off completely. does this prove that it (they) need to be replaced?
