The Power Steering fluid mystery.

Postby Audi » Wed Jun 09, 2004 2:24 am

Recently my car leaked a fair amount of it's power steering fluid onto the fool of my garage as I have alluded to before. I checked for a leak and couldn't find one so I filled it back up. Now it appears to be fine? It seems like a very random thing to be a one off, anyone know whats up?

Ask yourself these questions:

1. Does my girlfriend really love me?

2. Do I have a good life insurance policy?

3. Does she know the difference between power steering and brake fluid?

Sorry, other than that, wouldn't have a clue. Sounds damn weird.

If you jack up the front and grab a front wheel and turn it really fast you can get the fluid to leak out of the container. Maybe you did that?

dude this happened to me once in my mitsi...
my old cyborg, my gf had a swift, which was a similar model but lower spec motor etc, anyway, she commented on how the power steering was heavier on the cyborg, and i was like bah, bs.

but when i checked the fluid it had gone from full to like 1/4. i was like wtf. couldnt find a leak at all. filled it back up, and it never happened again.

*x-files music here*

had probs before with the fluid getting hot, expanding and overflowing.
i fixed it by not being so much of a cheap ass and put expensive fluid in it.
worked a treat.
me thinks i mighta had bearing problems in the ps pump but never caused a problem again.

Lol I just got it now after re-reading it! I don't have a g/f so can't have been that. Maybe it was the power steering fluid drinking gremlins.

Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.
