the blue rubbers will give you "white light"

what you need to find is the LED version of your bulbs only place iv seen selling them is super cheap, they have two LEDs in a socket that just slips inplace of a bulb.

i just changed my dash lights with the blue covers from repco, they turned out great a awesome blue, but it pays to change the bulbs when u do it , i first tried puttin the covers ova the standard bulbs with the standard blue covers and i found it a bit dim, hard to read the dash at night, i also did the boost, shiftlight, and interior lights

a mate took the dash cluster out of his skyline and put super bright l.e.d's from jaycar electronics where the original bulbs went. but he needed to put a resistor in to the +12v power supply going into the cluster so that 12v power didn't fry em, its just right in some parts and too dull in others said he needed more l.e.d's than bulbs this could be due to using super bright l.e.d's instead of normal ones. came out a nice sort of neon blue

I learnt the hard way what happens when you replace only one... ends up looking really inconsistent.

So I replaced all of 'em... now Ive got the problem of having one of the blue silicone covers melting or thinning out a bit, cos since replacement the illumination from one of the bulbs has changed shades a bit, so 0-70 on my speedo is light blue, rest of dash is deeper blue... Aftermarket blue bulb sleeves obviously are a different blue to the factory ones... In some ways I miss the factory green glow... lol

Bit annoying, but meh, I'll get round to fixing it up sometime soon... maybe these led's are worth a go...

thats why you buy the Led cluster lights, iv only seen supercheap sell them $12 for 2 or sumthen.... they are two LED's bult into a bigish lense so the light spreads an they have the risistors in them... way easyer.. strate plug-in. lots of jap sites have them but i could never find anywere in nz selling them apart from super cheap.

I think it's possible to buy LEDs with a wider spread, they're just quite expensive to buy!!! The same kind of ones that they use in replacement LED clusters with a bayonet fitting so ya can put them in place of a regular bulb ie. taillight.

But then the fussing round with resistors is a bitch (160R resistor for a 3v LED iirc)

think red is the easyest colour to get, but then you have the option of using the red silicon sleves that are cheaper...

True, but what of the two is going to be better, I found that those silicon sleeves can melt after a while :?

Yeah, one along the left side of my speedo is really bad... melted after only a day or two... I was none too impressed... hence me being keen to try LEDs...

why not try the blue high intensity LED's from DSE. they are very bright. they also do dash lights, comes in red/blue/UV. instead of a pair, you geyt 3 lights.

I found a great way to get your dash lights a consistant blue. I went to repco and brought 4 5w halogen parking bulbs and painted the a non metalic blue. It worked great.

I just replaced my lightbulb with normal one.
is the lightbulb for the backlight 12v 5w (same light for park light) ?
I try to read from the old bulb and it fade away so I cannot really read it. if not mistaken I read it 12v 2.2w, is there any lightbulb with that watt?
I replaced with the parklight bulb 12v5w, it seem to be brighter but then
the centre light seem to goes off and on all the time.
is it because it loose or I should not use parklight bulb?

The bulbs behind the dash is like wedge lightbulb
the one for indicator.
but i notice my old lightbulb is 12v 2.2w
and the bulb i just bought is 12v 5w.

when I put back 2.2w it seem working fine.
but when I put the 5w, the center bulb (3 lightbulb) seem to go on and off in random time (about 10 minutes interval).

is there such 2.2w wedge bulb out there? :?: and if there is. where can i get them?
