AutomaticTranny AW11 ECU = no revlimiter

Can anyone confirm this?

the autos do have a rev limiter....its the same as all other aw11's....7,800 i think is it limit. i can confirm this as i have owned three autos and currently still have two. the only difference is that the auto ones out here are mapped to supply more power (more fuel and better timing) down low...this has been proven as some aw11 racers use auto ECU's to get more bottom end performance....so the only difference is bottom end perf....but its not much!

thats an interesting point cos out of interest i tried to rev my corona out to see where it limited.
kay, standard redline is 6000 and trans always shifts up at that on power (5200 on eco). Now i got brave (3sfe don't like revs) and got it to 7200 before i wimped out.
just thought i'd mention that

My corona hit 8 grand in 2nd gear doing burnouts. Held it there for a while too. :D

20000 ks later it finally died (270000all up) Just found out why too, small hole in sump from too much rally action.

The AE101 4AGZE ECU's rev limit is 8000rpm - I keep hitting it when passing in third and forget to ease off on the accelerator (Bad Pidge, no biscuit!).

my 89 pulles out to 8600 and rides the red line, engines still in mint condition and the auto still goes fine.

Could these higher rev limits just be from inaccurate revmeters?

So you have stripped the motor down and checked every last detail? or it seems to still run fine

the motor was stripped at 159,000k when we had a pile of gaskets die, guy at toyota said the engine was in good shape..didnt need any work atall, just the new gaskets all round (head gasket was fine) and the TRD cams are still looking good too.

ChaosAD: quite likely.
I have tested the mysterious type 10 ecu... AT MR2... and it cut at the same as all the others.. 7800rpm.
Same as type 30, 31, 50, 51, 61.

Maybe if you have the speed sensor connected it would be different.
As for fuelling, type 51 or 61 are best. Best for NA, best for Turbo.

FWIW: I have a 61 for sale.
