is any of this crazy shiz possible?

Postby lvn_mr2 » Mon Jun 28, 2004 2:53 pm

i have a 3A-LU, i'd like to put twin carbs on it...possible?
i've also been looking into changing the head to something like a 4E-FTE or 4A-FE.....Possible?

i know i'm going to sound crazy here, but a SC12 would be nice, and i've seen it on a 5E-FHE, i know how to lower compression, the carbs can produce the extra fuel...possible to run the SC12?

thanks

why not just buy a 4agze and fit that???
will have more power, be more reliable. and will actuallu work!!
probably be cheaper in the long run too....

theres a reason why people do certain conversions over and over is because its tryed and tested and it makes sence
4age /gze is the best bang for buck and the money you would spend doing something like that its just not worth the time and effort

phukin engine converters!!! i already have a 89 mr2 with 4age, and one without an engine and my GFs 20v!

the aw10 was brought as its a classic, but really the biggest thing i'd like to do is put the twin carbs on as it was a factory option and it should give me a lil bit more power??

im ripping out the auto for the manual as i have the factory conversion kit here for that :D and i thought if i put a sc12 on it, i could remove it and push the comp ratio back up and it would be stock again lol but i know its not that simple.

i saved this car from being wrecked...sp yea i shouldnt wreck it myself.

so will twin carbs give any more power??

Just to answer this question, the 4E-FTE head will not fit onto a 3A-LU (although the whole engine would make a mint lightweight engine swap), but the 4A-FE head will fit (although you would have to check whether the bore is that same on a 3A as a 4A otherwise combustion chamber will be too big.
Also, it's worth noting that apart from not having to change engine mounts, doing a head swap like that is basically as much work as a complete engine conversion, as it requires the wiring and ecu and sensors from the engine the head is coming from.

you could always put a 4age head on it and make it a 3a-ge.... its been done with 2a's before. But like the man above said, its gonna be the same as a full engine swap as you're gonna need all the wiring etc....

But if he goes with the standard twin carbs he's not going to need an ECU is he?

i found a nice cam shaft in the UK that im going to bring back with me when im over there. Going to leave the head and just stick with the twin SU's. Rather keep it original than modify the crap outa it...would loose its value.

I wouldnt imagine it would have much value? Doesnt have anything over the commonly available, and more powerful AW11

argh...i'm gunnna leave it original, BUT i'm going to put the factory options onto it like the manual conversion and the twin carbs...apart from that it's staying stock. Oh im also going to change the colour to a factory blue rather than the white, i think white aw's are HORRIBLE!!!
