Modifying Ma61 IRS

Postby TE_71 LEVIN » Mon Jul 05, 2004 7:02 pm

Would it be possible to modify an MA61 Idependent Rear setup to fit into a 70 Series Corolla? or is there a better one to use? opinions please cause I don't think anyone else is mental enough to have even thought of this!

Looked around for rear track comparisons

Celica XX 1440mm
Corolla 1336mm

Difference 104mm

that would add 52mm each side
measurements could be inaccurate since i looked it up on the net
The out of order of EFI it seems, don't you think? is, condition changes, whether which kind of, but don't you think? after removing the screw of the throttle?

There was a yellow KE26 wagon from Boosted Performance in Fast Fours a couple of months ago, using a narrowed IRS from the MA61. Lots of work in narrowing it though.

If you check the link above there are details of my project which is putting the same rear end into a Starlet. I am widening the car rather than narrowing the diff. It is a major job so don't even think about it unless you have a real good reason for doing it, or can do lots of the work for yourself.

What's the car gonna used for? MA61 IRS isn't that great. Lowering will camber it out and it just weighs too much.

just throwing around ideas atm, want something completley off the wall, and i wanna use mostly oem toyota parts if i can. do you know of a lighter one, its hard one since most new cars fwd i'm pretty starved for choice an altezza one one would be good but pricey...whats it gunna be used for? my corolla 70 series project car "the perfect dx"!!! still at the ideas stage as i said before.

They can be modified to solve this problem.
