That is correct, you can have 20%'s on a car if you can prove you carry more than $10,000 worth of equipiment ot one time tho :)
My mate has her car with 20's legally. Photography gear..

35% are light, 5% simulate darkness in daylight and especially in asmall cabin car like the MR2, it does a fine job. :D

I thought that it was illegal to have tints on the front window (aside from a top band)...has the law changed?

You can 35% on all windows except the windscreen. The starlet in La-Femmes avatar has 35% tints

you can have a tint strip across the top, but there is a maximum depth for it...

Correct..

Quite a few times a link has been posted to the ltsa website regarding tinting, a quick search for 'tint' brings it up in no time :)

are you sure about the solid colour not being allowed? as you are allowed window banners as long as they don't come any further down than 100mm & a lot are one solid colour with writing on the top, ie, not just letters like the toypeed banners...

I have a plain white decal accross the top of my windscreen, which is illegal (but somehow manage to get by my WOF's and cops always let it slide since i trimmed it...) As stated above, the legal limit is 100mm from the window sill for opaque (not see-through) decals... Only trade/commercial vehicles with advertising on the banner can have it slightly longer (so one Cop told me). Cops only use the inside height of the sun visors as a guide only.

As for tints, I believe you can have a nice big fat tint strip accross the windscreen as long as its no more than 35%. (could be wrong there, but the same cop said I could have same banner legally if it was transparent (tint).

We had a tint check-point here in Palmy last weekend... popped up at random at about midnight Saturday night - they checked my front and rear side windows and same on every other car with tints... I got by no probs (apparently my tints are about 37%, but thats close enough... ) :)

TINT CHECK POINT??? those palmy cops must be really bored out of their ass doing that. instead of carrying a breath alcohol tester, they carry a tint tester    How's that going to save lives? guess they got sick of chasing boy racers (low riding in their CRX) round and round the roundabouts at the square huh.
