As part of my ST191 #s-GTE conversion, I need a FWD Box that can handel up to 300hp. As yet the only thing that I have found for it is eather a Celica box (E154) & remove the rear wheel drive (if at all posable) or a MR2 box. If it is a MR2 box, how is it converted to go from RWD to FWD? and what model is it?

I found this link to diferent Boxes that Toyota do, and I can see that is is not a complete list, but it is a help tho.

The MR2 Turbo box (E153) is really a FWD box so no conversion is necessary.

definately either the mr2 gearbox or an E-56, lsd gearbox off some st202 celicas and st-206 currens

jools is using an st-202 celica lsd gearbox in his 3s-gte st-182

I'm completing putting an E-56 in my st-182

What did chickenman end up using in his corona 3sgte conversion?

I'll still be running the corona box (cos I have two of them) until I can get either a MR2 or st202 box. My engine isn't even in yet!!!! The $&#$% at work started a $&#$% GIANT campervan conversion this week (Good to be related to the boss aye?) My car gets dropped off on friday.

I'm only sticking the corona box in cos I want it running asap (gotta go to tech sumtime). Will be at the drags with the same box. I've bin abusing the $&#$% out of the car lately trying to kill the motor more (I'm bored) 2nd gear clutch drops at 7 grand are FUN!!!

the box is holding up pretty well, just spins the wheels. I not counting on using the clutch with the new engine though :roll:

I'm running a standard 3sfe box and its holding up sweet as so far. MR2 box does have to be modified to suit the ff configuration as the linkages that the gear selector cables attach to face the wrong way. Best bet if you can afford it is to run the camry or st202 lsd box which have the bigger drive shafts but you also have to modify your hubs to run this box. I have a spare 3sge st182 box sitting in the shed incase mine ever blows.

Yeah I run the ST-202 LSD box and its stood up to the pressure very well.
Only prob I had was after around 8 or so drag runs the box got a lil' crunchy. But i've stuck a cooler on it now and havent had any probs since.

FWIW, all that is required to convert the sw20 box for fwd is to replace the shift arm with one from a fwd E series box, and plug up the hole left by the old arm. The arms shouldn't be hard to come across, infact I have a spare

However, for some reason sw20 boxes seem to be priced a lot higher than fwd celica/curren etc ones, so its probably not worth it.

I'm going to have to change my BOX, as I am curently running a factory A241E Auto at the mo, so it sounds as tho ether the one out of theSW20, or the ST210, depending on what I get my hands on eh.

Dont mean to hijack the thread, but Im looking at putting a 3SGTE in my AE101 FXGT and intend using the MR2 box with the shifter arm mod and I notice you guys talking about changing Hubs, can anyone fill me in on the details of that, I realise you guys have cars that allready had 3S series engines in them, but any info would help

You may be able to use ae101gze hubs and driveshafts as they run the larger shafts. not sure if they are the same size as sw20 or not but would be worth reseaching

for the shafts, you need celica st185 shafts with SC outer CV's (thats what people do when building mk1.5 mr2's) and you can keep your standard hubs!

I've never heard that term before but I assume it means that somehow they turn it into a 2wd gearbox by taking off the diff attached to it and seal it just like normal 2wd gearboxes are.
