HELP PLEASE with idle speed

Postby sprint » Sun Jul 18, 2004 11:28 pm

Right heres the situation, i just converted my GZ20 Soarer from auto to manual (W55 g/box) and everything is working fine apart from the fact it idles too high about 1800 rpm. I have loosened off the idol adjustment as far as it will go so the throttle body doesnt even touch the damper. This had no effect on the idol speed whats so ever. I think because the fhyweel no longer has the tourqe converter on it it is spinning much faster to mantain the current setting, so thats why its high. Has anyone else had this problem when doing a conversion? Is the auto computer auto adjusting the idle? If so can i set it lower? Any thoughts would be much appreciated as this is the last thing holding me up!!!!

I'm not sure about this, but was the ECU connected to the auto gearbox? Could be that you may need to get your hands on an ECU for a manual.

This is based on the assumption that the ECU connects to it, I dunno
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

they are a seperate ecu, but do have several wires connecting together. How did you go about tricking the auto ecu into park/neutral to start?. Im not positive as have not quite done it yet on my supra, but I think you need to make the auto ecu think it is in 'n' not park as p has a higher idle.
Cant believe im still a member here.

Does it get 1800 at cold or normal operating temp or both? I doubt it's an ECU related problem. Mine runs like clockwork with only the neutral start switch bridged.

Ae92typeX: the wires and connector should resemble this. This is an a340e but colours may vary depending on car. Join/bridge the 2 big fat black ones (neutral start switch). Red and yellow for reverse lights.

Chris: is this what you did?
