Toyota Chaser Model differences

Postby Driftit » Fri Jul 30, 2004 12:18 pm

Hey people. Im need some help finding info on the differences between the Chaser models. E.g the exact differences between the JZX100 Avanti, Tourer V and Tourer S. Also the Avanti S and Avanti G.

Proving to be a real pain in the ass trying to find this info.

Cheers if anybody can help.

Ahh you see thats what I thought aswell.

But you get JZX100 Avanti and grande's and GX100 versions.

The Avanti JZX100's are turbo. The GX100 versions are not.

Im looking at importing a Tourer V as my runabout. Its replacing my Altezza. I dont care if it is Manual or Auto. But im just confused at to what the other models have exactly.

I think it would be safe to just forget about them and stick to the Tourer V's

Preferably I would like to get a TRD version. But im not keen on the $10,000 price deference. There was a black one for sale in NZ about a year back. But Its history was a bit shady. Ex stolen and recover from Japan. Had to have its Chassis number re stamped.

You do realise that the GX100's are the 1GFE engines... the're a 2L straight 6. pretty gutless really...

but yeah. there is a big difference between the Manual, Auto's and the TRD specs...

Have a look at this one.... was for sale a while ago on here ;)

Haha. Thats the dodgy one I was talking about.

I wouldn't go near a GX100 with a 10 foot pole ah. I import cars myself but even for me they are damm expensive for there age. 1997 cars going for $20+ starting bid. Duno if it will be worth it. I think I may have to sell my 180SX aswell just to buy one.

:!: Idea!!!

Sell Altezza and 180SX. Buy Chasser and old 180SX. Use old 180 as a drift car only. Chasser can be the mean tow car.
I had to beat them to death with their own shoes!

Mate of mine recently brought a 97 JZX100 Chaser, 2.5 NA with VVTi, goes pretty well actually. Got a full body kit on it, lowered, TRD rear muffler and some nice Black 3pce wheels, with 98k's on it for $12995 from a dealer.
Pretty well spec'd with elec seats, twin climate control, MD player, carbon trims etc.
No idea whether its a tourer etc as it's been debadged, not even a Toyota badge on it.
