could you be more descriptive than wire and stuff ??

from what i make out i think your talking about the ht leads (sparkplug leads)

if they are factory jobbies it would be a good idea to get some new ones depending on how many kays your car has done

you are right, the lines form the distributor leading to the plugs, (distributor is the thing that looks like a cup wth four wires sticking out of it leading to 4 more plugs on the engine yeah?)

sorry electric stuff, not sure bou the jargons:)

cos some ppl change this to 8mm, silicon leads etc red ones blue ones maybe for show or maybe actual purpose

what would the advantage of this be by changing these plugs leads?? any advantages?

(to ppl who will make fun and criticise mylack of knowledge of this wire jargon, back off thanks, im tryignt o learn here:)

in dollars spent to performance gained uprated ht leads are not worth it compared to std ones, but if the cars has more than 100,000 kms they're in doubt of failing and causing problems.

And whatever you do make sure you that you dont put straight wire leads on it. They must be suppressed leads or it will cause havoc with the efi system.

When both Wilcard and myself were looking around for new leads for the GenIII 3SGTE neither of us could find any aftermarket sets available other than genuine Toyota items, they are most probably available in Japan but not here from my understanding, MrRevhead can do you good deals on new Toyota ones but make sure you change the distributor cap and rotor as well as these parts wear out even faster than the leads.

what i do is just check the resistance for the wires.. I try to use the less resistances wires as possible to ensure fatter spark. It works for me. exhaust tone even sounds different (on my 2TGEU) will try on 4AGE soon.

so bottom line guys

i have a 205 gt4

do you think its worth my while replacing my plugs with iridiums NGK and 8 MM aftermarket leads??

like you said i cant seem to get after market 8mm leads right?

so what should i do, cos its not causing me any problems i dont think, it doesnt feel any different or anything, so theres no immediate reason for me to change leads, or the plugs, but... in NZPC the people always change the leads, and i was thinking why....

so do you guys think its worth my while? or jsut leave it and spend the money on other things?

If you have to change leads, just use the OEM toyota leads. And I wouldnt bother with iridium plugs on a 3s. Just use some copper NGK bkr7e's. These are one step colder than stock. Change them about every 7000kms. About $20 for a full set of 4 plugs.

Flashy leads are a waste of money, if you get a chance check out the US MR2 OC board, theres several 300+ and even 500+ rwhp cars using the stock leads.

NA drifter - from my understanding lower resistance leads will only increase current, when what you want is increased voltage for "fatter spark"

changing the resistance in the leads doesnt change the resistance that has to be overcome in the sparkplug gap. factory leads have high resistance to REDUCE current and therefore reduce the pesky problems matt dunn was talking about.

a lot of "thicker" leads are often the same size core as your stock items, with more silicon coating. this isint nessicarily a bad thing, but not something that IMO is worth several hundred $$.

well,... you are right according to the formula..
Voltage= Current x Resistance

Well, they use reduced current leads nowaday because of all cars are equiped with radio and ECU. High current induce inteference to the radio that's why quite a comman problem in the old car need to get the thing connected to the dizzy/coil.... forgot what the thing called.
In the old days, car running coax leads(solid cooper) as spark plug lead other than the sillicon lead these days to get rid of the inteference and also coax lead tend to break easily... they don't like to be bend that much.

well, yeh,.. i always play around and testing this kind of things since i got a few spark plug leads from the wreakers to hack around and found them to work the best if they really really short. I even custom made the cyclinder #4 lead to have double lead to a spark plug and I notice increase in performance. reason that i'm doing this is to make all of them having same resistance.
But I always carry spare leads with me incase somethings goes wrong
