AIR CONDITIONING PROBLEMS

Postby B1NZ » Tue Aug 03, 2004 8:36 pm

Hello and good morning/afternoon/evening (delete which doesnt apply)

The gf has a 1991 Cynos in which the air cond was working last summer, then all of sudden it doesnt go, the light comes on when the button is depressed with the fan going but it doesnt seem to click in and the revs drop slightly when idleing, What the deal? Anyfuses to check? Whats the most common problem? Where do i start looking?

Cheers Brendon

Leaking gas maybe?
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

nah, what i meant was it used to drop the revs when the aircond was switched on, but now it doesnt.
Would that indicate that the aircond unit clutch or whatever is not engaging?

it'll just be outta gas. The unit wont cycle / engage if outta gas, hence revs wont drop. I have had to degas my aircon several times recently, and once degased it dosent cycle anymore. Will cost you about 60 - 100 dollar to get it refilled

*news flash* removing aircon does not increase hp of your engine. It will reduce resistance on your engine... or you can simply switch it off, which has the same effect. Its is generally removed to reduce weight.

As has been pointed out, its a cynos...if you must drive a cynos you may as well have the cumfort of aircon.

Mr bob is onto it, open the bonnet, look were the release latch is at the front between the headlights, there is like a air valve there, thats what they fill it with, i wouldnt mess with it yourself, take it to an expert. check your belt is tight too, might be loose as a nuns bum... gud luck
