dodgy sound coming from T50?

Postby sanchez » Wed Aug 04, 2004 5:43 pm

anyone that can offer there 2 cents worth, feel more than welcome.
i'v got a 4age hooked up to a T50, the other day what sounded like the gearbox started knocking, it appears to be coming from nearer the bellhousing, it's not knocking all the time, the only time it seems to do it is when i go over some bumps or when i rev it hard. i'v checked all the mounts, fluid levels etc, all sweet. any ideas?

T50 noise

Could be clutch fork broken, pressure plate, clutch plate, best bet would be to remove gearbox and carefully inspect clutch components. Has the bellhousing been changed, did you drive the car the gearbox was from to see what it was like??

the gearbox came out of an old carina, it's been in my corona since 2002, my clutch feels sweet as, not crunching any gears or anything, the car still feels sweet as to drive, just a very noticeable knocking noise occasionally. oh well maybe that will have to be the sunday afternoon mission, clutch inspection! cheers for your thoughts chaps.

It may seem simple, but also check the exhaust isn't hitting anything i.e bellhousing, driveshaft etc. would prob feel like the knocking is coming through the gearbox
