Sounds like a fuse to me 15amp from memory, I would check if your cigarette lighter plug is touching something metal etc..check that before you replace the fuse, could also be your stereo causing the problem.

lmfao sorry dude but by the sounds of it you have more problems than just the ciggy lighter not working
your looking at a new engine or $450 in parts if you rebuild it ur self

having to replace ur engine cause ur stereo dont work? hmmm sounds suspect.
if u cant figure out how to replace a fuse or cant b arsed getting an auto electrician to have a looksee if it aint the fuse or an oviouse thing then i guess the next step is to buy a new car.

jst chek all ur fuses first

lol ohh yeah i was a bit concerend for ya when ya said ya had big end problems i know that feeling all to well
what your describing sounds like the oil pump or something is on its last legs and taking a while to build up pressure, try 20w50 grade oil and if ya already using that penzoil make oil for worn engines that is as good as glue its soo thick and would most likley fix the problem for a while

as for the ciggy lighter thing there shold be a fuse box in the kick pannel by ur feet pull fuse by fuse until you find the blowen one
but... there must be a reason for it blowing so have a look at your stereo wiring make sure ther wires are all isntulated (sp)
if thats all fine try dissconecting your lighter and see if it blows again

oh yeah and heres one for you guys was talking to the mrs granddad and he was telling me about how they bogged up a piston in a fordson truck once and it lasted for like a few thousand miles and they ran cars on kerocene when there was a fuel crisis in 192*
you had to run fuel lines through the exaust to get the kero hot enough to be combustable and before the exaust gets it hot u had to light a fire on the fuel lines in the mornings 8O 8O 8O

big end bearings are dam cheap anyway! just replace them save you the hastles of other problems...
as for that cigi lighter, did the plug hit the metal casing bit and short, that happened in my mates mazda, shorted out the stereo, interior lights and dash lights... auto electrican cost bout $50 max, but was easy n a mazda.
