Rev counter output conversion...new system to old gauge

Postby ~SlideWays~ » Tue Aug 24, 2004 4:42 pm

Umm dunno if that made any sense but heres the problem

My ae86 has a digital dash display, the rev counter used to run off the standard ignition system of the bluetop but now the car has a map quad coil 4agze so the rev counter wont read right.

It isnt actually plugged in but apparently it would read half the rev's that it should.

So what i need is something to convert the signal so my rev counter will read right....does anybody get what im on about??

I remember being told that there is a mitsi part that can do this, but what from i dont know.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

interface

yes there is a tacho interface available from some mitsi's, it is very easy to install as it only has 3(?) wires.
an input wire for each of the coils and and output wire which runs to your tacho. thats it.

if you get stuck i have a spare here for $30

REv counter

The twin coils are located between the inlet manifold and the rocker cover, they are bolted to the inlet manifold, so if the H/T leads are still there just follow them. Failing that myself and NZ_AE86 have lots of them from pic a part.
