MR2 Seats in AE82?

Postby RollaGT_87 » Mon Aug 23, 2004 7:16 pm

I was wondering if it's possible to get MR2 seats fitted into an AE82 GT Rolla. I've got the seats, 'coz they only cost me $35 and I'm sick of my bucket (Racepro - offers? skinny-ass seat tho :?) Anyway, and my passenger seats falling to bits. The trouble is, the mounts are slightly different in angle at the front (as in 45 degrees for AE82, vertical for MR :x ) and also the inside mounts (or is it outside??? Dammit! I'll find out later) are bolted to the underside of the MR's seats and the side of the GT's. Any ideas?

Yep, had this issue when i put some Jamex recliners in my GT.

What i did was completely bastardise   a seat of FXGT seats. The seats are actually riveted on to the rails, well big cold rivet type things, so you are unable to unbolt the seat from the rails, you can only unbolt the cushion you sit on not hte back rest!

Anyway get a grinder and grind these rivets flat, then you need to pry the seat off the rail with a crowe bar, or big screw driver or something, this leaves just the rails (with brackets to bolt to floor obviously!!), I just made some brackets from some 2mm plate, although 3mm would be better, and welded these brackets on, drilled holes in the appropriate places and bolted all up!!! Easy!!
