Leads for Sparkplugs for 4-AGZE

Postby Helious » Wed Sep 01, 2004 2:01 pm

Malo Please Toyota FAMILY~

Uhm, I replaced the crap sparkies with Bosch Platinum Plugs. Unfortunately removing the leads I ran into a problem with the last lead in that it seemed to be on tight. So I yanked the $&#$% and it ripped it's guts out~ I nearly $&#$% cried.

My mates and I waited for my mates father to come home from work to see what he could do.. He's a crazy Serbian and he said he could "make some imprivvvvziations~" and told us to go play pool for a few hours~

We came back and he had put the guts back into the lead and refitted it but it wasn't quite sitting flush with the top of the head~ but it was still making a connection~ he basically made-do so I could get home that night. He honestly is a $&#$% champion~

Anywayz~ Next day I went to Repco to get leads and they tried to charge me $170.. I told them where to stick it and thought that I could wait out until payday(I get paid monthly)

Just wondering if anyone(Mr Revhead?) could recommend the best place to get leads from.. and should I use factory leads or go for performance leads(does it even matter?)

I do plan on mod'n my car further but ran into this $&#$% of a hickup~

My car when it idles will go from 3cynlinders to 4... and if I don't give it gas every 3-5seconds sitting idle(how often does one sit idle at a set of lights? not long) it will eventually die out(I watch the vacuum go from 20 down to 10.. then it will hit about 5 and die)

The fix the guy put in place is fine when i'm driving, but idling it gets a bit rough and I can't help but think I'm doing damage in someway by pro-longing the replacement of these leads..

Info much appreciated..........

My mate wrote off his GTZ too! I didn't even think to swap his leads!

I had the same sorta issue with getting leads for my AE101 GTapex. Bosch leads were gonna cost me round 170ish, luckily the place I was gonna get them from were out of stock so I did a bit more hunting round and found a set of NGK leads for bout $100.
Pop into Super Cheap if you have one near ya thats where I got mine from.

I assume 4AGZEs use the same leads as 4AGEs, so going on that theory TRD leads are about $215.

H/T leads

Postby GOLDAE86 » Wed Sep 01, 2004 10:13 pm

BNT can have some made up for you, all you need is a sample. The leads are a brand called TOPGUN, they are quite reasonably priced, so give them a try. :D

Was that you the gerry gave the wrong plugs to?! Sorry about that, when you've been working in parts as long as he has you kind of senile. If ya every need any other bits come on in, i'll look after ya on the prices.

As for mr broken lead if your on the shore, bring your lead in and i'll fix it for you, save you buying a whole new set. I can fix/customize any size leads apart from 5mm. So if you want to upgrade your 7mm to 8mm i can do that no problem. Can make 10.5mm for special turbo/hi heat application if needed, but v costly & a pain to make.

I might very well do that dude, cheers.

I'll just see what EVLGTZ comes back with first ~

Either way, sooner it's fixed the better~ i'm sick of manually rev'n it at the lights~ people give me strange looks coz they think i'm some $&#$% who likes the sound of his exhaust
