i had a cold air duct very similarly setup catching cold air from under the car. it wasn't possible to rip out and i too worried to hell about puddles and hard rain.
a BIG puddle wouldve been a problem, but after about a year or so i took off the ducting when i was degreasing the engine, and found that not only had water indeed found its way up the duct but it was pooling just inside the housing around the filter.
that meant that effectively the filter lay in a puddle, so i took it off!
now the response is not so good. crap actually - prolly due to me getting used to the added pickup with cold air.
one things for sure, my car never screamed harder than when i was down the south island in the middle of winter.
some people have mounted their filter and afm's right in the bloody bumper in front of the right hand tyre. i personally don't like the thought of how much dust must get into it, but their arguments are that that's what air filters are for.
meh.
im still trying to work out the best of cold air ducting without going over or under. so it looks like taking out a headlight for dragging with cold air might be the only answer.
just means on the street, i wont be as mean as i am on the track
