Adjustable Exhaust system for 1991 V8 Soarer

Postby Captain » Mon Sep 13, 2004 5:36 pm

Hay there,

Bought a v8 soarer on the weekend and think its great, best car i have ever driven.
Origionally i wanted to put a great sounding exhaust on it but after driving around these past 2 days i really am adicted to the no-noise engine.

Is there any way of getting an exhaust fitted so i can change the noise level from silent ( like stock ) to really damn loud v8 sounding.

Any advise appreciated. :D

Not really. Meh, those jappa V8's dont sound much good anyway ;)

But seriously, there's not really any way of doing it. I saw a guy in a 6 cyl falcon weld a 2.5" throttlebody into his exhaust, and hooked it up to a manual choke kit, so he could open and close the TB from inside the car. Reckons it works real well, when the TB is closed, it's quiet as. Open it up, and you've got your 2.5" of piping again!

Personally, I'd MUCH prefer a quite soarer.

Umm you could get a removable silencer made up for it like mine

I've got about a metre of 3" mandrel piping and its not quiet coming out the straight through n1 muffler, but with the silencer its quieter than stock....dunno how legal it is tho since its easily removable.

Theres quite afew of the butterfly style adapters being produced now, there been in japan for several years now. Performance car had one in there bits page afew months ago but I cant recall where was inporting them.
Some are manually controlled and others electronically

As far as the bolt in end piece silencer goes, usually wof places will make you weld it in (usually) so it cant just be removed round the corner.
Cant believe im still a member here.

i've seen 'Supertrapp' mufflers fitted to race cars to create a tunable exhaust.
