NOS on a 4age

For me this is seen as horsepower in a bottle.

My question is whether any modifications are needed to injectors, fuel etc. Or can a kit be added directly to a 4age. Will the standard fuelling system be able to hack it and how much do these kits cost.

Also any other info on the giggle gas would be great!

Im looking into nitrous as my next mod and have done a few weeks worth of researching it. Its only good for the dragstrip tho, as it can only be used at wide open throttle. IMO nitrous on the street is just dangerous.

Basically what you wanna do is freshen up the ignition, new leads, cap, rotor and one step colder ngk plugs (BCPR6ES) and a new fuel filter.

You really want a wet kit that draws its own fuel supply rather than relying on the injectors to push out the extra fuel required for a dry kit. Wet does cost slightly more and its harder to install but its worth the effort for the peace of mind Start with a 50 shot nozzle and then put the 75 shot nozzle on if you think you need more power

did anyone see the top gear, were they put like 100shot in an old XJ6 jag..? And it beat the porsch carrera turbo and all those other sports cars! on a whole shot! on a 1/2 mile drag! Would of melted the rings, and probably pinked like a bugger the hole time!

Yup that was quite impressive. Shouldnt have pinged because of the supercooling effect nitrous gives when released. Its at -88 degrees C when its released into the combustion chamber.

wouldnt that be similar to strapping a huge turbo, high boost, just for one drag..? bet the rings, and the piston skirts are now ONE ITEM

Yeah the general rule of thumb is no more than half your flywheel power on a stock internalled motor

i think it was just an XJ6, they only like half that power, correct me if im wrong tho

were drifting off the topic, but what we are talking about is N.O.S = BIG GAINS!! if prepped correctly, I agree with Al when he says to replace leads, dizzy cap etc, seems like a logical idea.

but it depends on how much use it would get, eg. racecar - daily driver..
if it for racing application.. maybe you should start to think about shortblock upgrades..? *shrugs*

u can run a 50 to 75 hp dry shot of nos with no props
u wont need to run any more injectors or rase the comp just like al said new leads etc will do the trick

I wouldnt even bother retarding the ignition. I could give you a list of 50+ guys in the US that use 50 and 75 shot nitrous on stock internalled 3sgte's with stock 10 degrees BTDC

Yeah info would be good at the mo. Just want to learn the ins and outs, do's and don't. Im just doing what Al is. Trying to get as much info and read heaps of stuff.

Only using it at full throttle is a good thing otherwise I would use too much of it. And would only want to use it at full throttle, ie drags and a dyno run.

Well if you try to use it at anything less than full throttle you can kiss your motor goodbye.

Email Kelford cams & they will quote you a price & recomend what size bolt on kit you can use with your standard engine.
They quoted me $1150 +gst for a 75hp dry ZEX kit for my AE111 BZG. Dont know if that included install though??

Im kind of partial to the safety of a wet kit because it doesnt rely on your injectors adding the extra fuel, can 4age injectors handle another 75hp worth of fuel?

kelford do a 55-75 HP dry kit for $1150+
or a 75-125 HP wet kit for 1250+, and bottle fills for $180. Hey AL have u herd of those bottle heaters, to stop density in the bottle from coldness? Kelford do them for $260+

just caught a kelford ad in a magazine..

maybe for a road AND track car, u could run a switch from the microswitch on the throttle, controllable from the cockpit?
