if you haven't changed the oil recently it could be the thingst hat protect your engine in it having broken down. I suggest changing the oil and seeing if you still have a problem :)

Is there a pcv valve on the starlet intake? A tube that goes from the intake manifold to the head. This allows air to be sucked into the top for some reason I cant really remember. My 4age had some oil coming out of the pod filter. Thats where a lot of mine went. I just fitted an oil catch tank catch the oil, and still allow the engine to breath. My motor, the 4age is reknowned for burning oil at full throttle and high revs. Because some of the oil gets into the intake manifold, the engine would suck it into the combustion chamber at high revs, and burn it then.

All engines burn oil, depends on if you thrash em or not.

Could need a good tune?

Toyota engines are also known for using oil.
