Hard to see it being cost effective to rebuild vs a Jap import motor.

I'd only bother rebuilding a 3S-GE for more power if I had a severe excess of money. You could only gain 30-40bhp without serious expenditure.

what if i were to replace the factory internals with factory internals. would this cost much? im looking at doing it as next year im starting the automotive course at weltec and want to recondition the motor, as is is starting to blow a bit of oil etc.
i will be doing this myself so how much would i be looking at cost wise?
cheers

Depending if you do a rebuild or a recon, it will most probably be cheeper to just get an import motor & chuck it in. Many come with some form of warranty.
However, if you plan on keeping the car for a while, and will be doing it yourself then could be worth considering a rebuild/con. As far as using factory parts, I guess it depends if the pistons etc are still within spec and dont need an oversize.
Cant believe im still a member here.
