Digital Speedos

Postby Muzzie » Thu Sep 23, 2004 3:42 pm

Just curious, because chances are I'll never actually reach the end of the Hiaces speedo.

Does a digital one just keep counting up and up, or does it reach a point and then just stay there (eg reach 180 and wont go any higher)

Anyone know?

It depends ive had my up to 180km/hr and it stopped on the limiter but if you get rid of the limiter you can go well into the 200's

My speedo reads 20% fast bcos of gbox conversion which would make it easy to reach 180k, so i'll try it out in a controlled situation sometime and get back to you. :D

My old AE82 had the numbers there so it could potentially do 299 (oh yeah!)

- the speedo must have been out but I've had it reading 182 (which is curious enough with the whole speed sensor>ecu>governer>speedo arrangement so don't hassle me about it..) so from that I assumed it would just go till it ran out of numbers and then would start sparking and smoking 'n shit..

and naturally this was all done in a safe, controlled environment with no cows to hit...

My 82 Celica speedo stopped at 180, I think I was still getting faster at that point.. definitely wasn't on the limiter.
83 Starion also stopped at 180 and I was defintely still accelerating.

hmmm i used to have a facelift ae92 levin with a digi dash, it reached 180 and stopped at that although i could keep accelerating a little more so i dunno if the numbers can go any higher ???

my AE85.6 that i currently own also has a digi dash but i am yet to find out what that does although it will still have a speed cut, hmmm if it had any gas i would just jack the ass up off the ground and floor it in 5th to see what happens,

spose if i get bored i mite and then ill let you know what happens,
