SW20 turbo lag question...

Postby Pies » Fri Sep 24, 2004 7:08 pm

for a mate,

when driving the standard mr2 sw20 turbo, does it have much lag? completely standard (apart from a pod filter)? drving his it feels like its holding back for a few seconds before boost kicks in, yet it is very standard so i wouldnt have thought that there would be no lag?

cheers for your answers in advance

You should have full boost by around 3000rpm regardless of ct20b or ct26 and it will kick you in the teeth at around 4000rpm, ct26 will then taper off after 5500rpm and ct20b will pull till 7250rpm rev limiter :)

ct20b full boost at 3000rpm? LOL, pass me some of that stuff you're smoking.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

I said 'around 3000rpm'

I've got 15psi by 3100rpm on my ct20b in 3rd and above.

courtesy of a 3" straight exhaust and my greddy profec b

a stocker gen2 with ct20b would still pull its 10-11psi by 3100rpm

From my experience - 5th gear... 1bar of boost by 3300rpm :)

Checking through my logs I get .7-.8bar by 3000rpm Excepting when I retard the ignition or have a blown knock sensor, then it's 1.4bar by 3000rpm, all that boost and no power :(

Last I recall, I didn't have any boost anywhere NEAR 3000rpm.

But that could be because my MR2 is N/A

Hi Fivebob, do you have a boost cut defender installed? My ST215W only can boost up to 1.2bar and the computer cut the fuel supply. :(
It's funny that I record the highest boost was 1.3bar (that was just millionsecond before the fuel cut) hehe

fivebob's figure sounds right if your ignition timing is on the spot.

I had a HKS F-ConS piggyback computer, fuel cut was around 1.4-1.5bar

And that's all you should run without an aftermarket EMS, unless you like replacing broken pistons
