If it's on a stand, flip it over, take the sump off and jam the crankshaft with a screwdriver / steel bar or similar so it won't turn over.

Thats what we did in MIT when we worked on our practice motors (teachers idea).

I figure it's as good a way as any :)

put in gear and get someone to hold there foot on the brake while you undo it.

when i pulled the crank pulley of my bluetop,(on a stand) i couldnt get the cambelt pulley (behind the main pulley) off the crank, my keyway & crank front end was fukkd. I even posted a TOPIC on how to get it off! :x untill i brought a puller.. then i had to replace crank 8O ...then i found out my BLUETOP had incorrect internals 8O ..so i had to buy rods to match crank 8O ...as well the pistons to fit the rods etc etc...

just some of the things u run into when rebuilding an engine... 8)

(ive got heaps of pics, if u got any questions)

with the engine not running it should still go into gear.
Otherwise get them to hold a little pressure on the gear lever while you turn the crank and it'll pop in.

Rattle gun if you can get it in there. Either that or a strong arm and appropriate socket put firmly in place and crank the engine over. Remember the engine goes clockwise (so get the strong arm somewhere where it wont just jump off, and so it wont spin around before it comes up against something), dont crank it for ages just have it on start for a brief moment, enough to turn the engine over. Rattle gun is preferable, but turning it over with the starter is fine if you cant get at it.

If you take the starter motor off and jam a big screwdriver in the teeth on the flywheel and brace that against the side of the hole that the starter motor came out of, that should do it. I've done it a couple of times like that.

Yeah, rattle gun is definatly the way to go....
After trying everything I could think of that was the only way we could do it.

Speaking of Crank pullies, does any one have a 12 or 14 psi pully for a SC 4agze for sale.....

if so please let me know!!!!!

If the engine was still in the car you could brace a rachet or something up against the chasis then using the starter motor (rm main coil so it dosn't start!) crank it until it comes off. This will take almost anything off from what I've heard. Worked for me.

Just don't do this with a Honda, you will tighten it even more :P
