4agze question

Postby corollaboy » Thu Sep 30, 2004 10:47 pm

please help. I recently bought a 93 corolla with a 4agze implant. The guy told me that it was from an ae101 levin, but i am not so sure cause it doesnt seem as fast as my mates 94gtz. I think it might be out of a mr2 but i cant tell. It doesnt have a distributor, and the leads go to the gear box end of the engine, and there is no AFM. I have been doing some looking on the net at photos and the only the newer 4agze's dont have distributors, ie ae92 onwards. Is there a definite way to tell what the engine is out of?? May seem like a dumb question. Any info would be good. :)

if u dnt think its as fast it could also do with weight of rolla vs weight of levin.

If it doesnt have an AFM theres a v high chance the engine is out of a AE101 GTZ. The leads on mine go to the gearbox end of the engine too. Sounds like you have a map gze, all ae101s had them and the last of the ae92 had them as well

It was my car he bought and I'm sure the engine is an ae101 4agze. Brendan from Niteparts did some work on it so he can give independent advice if you like and should be able to confirm its an ae101.

Yep, sure was AE101 ZE eng, box, loom & computer. And a healthy one at that :D

As someone said, possibly weight difference between cars?

From memory, looking at the intercooler piping, there may have been a bit of pressure drop in the 'corner' designing.

Might be worth a look :D

ok, i guess that answers my question. I am addressing the intercooler piping problem this weekend (hopefully). Just trying to figure out a good design. Any ideas?
